A Yakuta-clad Dining Experience

Brimmer met traditional Japanese dining last night in Hakone, as the whole crew came to dinner in their yakuta, which our guide, Naomi-San, refers to as pajamas. They are worn around the hotel by all kinds of guests, although Dr. Reese and Mr. J. report that their own appearances at breakfast in Kyoto in yakuta occasioned hilarity amongst some of the Japanese hotel guests.


The real stars of Friday night were the Brimmer kids who toned down their American rambunctiousness for Japanese decorum long enough to enjoy another beautiful meal:

The adventurous among us found that the public bath–onsen–experience, astonishingly, could actually be improved upon–our hotel featured a rooftop onsen fed by hot springs. It just keeps getting better!
